If I am being honest, I was quite confused about the tweets that were posted on Steak-Umm twitter page. It is a corporate page and the content that should be posted on that page should only attain to the company and the product they are selling. Posting content that seems political to your followers is not good for the company. Talking about political topics on the page in general is not good for the company to be doing. The company should post content that makes the consumers want to buy their product not turn them away from it. For instance, take a look at McDonald twitter page, you can do that by clicking the link here. The only things that are on their twitter page have to deal with their food and where they can get during this COVID-19 Pandemic. There is nothing mentioned about misinformation. Steak-Umm has made it seems as if they do not trust our government, and while the companies workers might be entitled to have their own opinion it should not be shown on any of their social platforms. They are one not a credible source to safe the information is “false” but also it is very unethical to bring in political topics.
Now, I know one of the main goals of company is to build a beneficial relationship between the consumer and the company. With this type of post there could be a potential beneficial relationship that is the consumer believes that information being shared with us by the government is false or they are keeping things from the people. However, with that being said Steak-Umm is more likely to lose consumer due to these post. People want to believe that the company they are being loyal to is credible, but Steak-umm is credible in the food department not the COVID-19 department. If they wanted to build beneficial relationship between themselves and their consumers they should post about their food and the nutrition information. Many people are now focusing on their health since the COVID-19 Pandemic hit and they are stuck in quarantine. Posting information about their food and the health benefits of eating their food would build more of beneficial realtionship than what Steak-umm posted about the COVID-19 information being “false” or missing key information. They could also post about having sales on the meat to help those that are having money trouble. They should post about things that could help their consumer not scare their consumer.
